Quirky House Blocks

I
have a new obsession!! House blocks and I seem to be spending a lot of my extra time on them. It started that I found the blog Attic 24 and then I found an applique pattern and then I found another site that has led me to make more houses. Does anyone else do these kind of things? I was just playing around with the b&w houses but the house on the right I plan on adding more to it and making it into a real quilt block. I stood at the ironing board and fused fabric so long that my leg was going numb. What a great feeling when you're having fun. I have all of these scraps of batiks and I think they will make some very interesting houses.
I'm taking a friend to Indianapolis tomorrow to the Art Museum and since I love Art Museums that should be fun. Then we'll do some shopping and some eating. The city is so close and yet I haven't been up there in several months. There is so many temptations there and I try not to go as I spend waaaaay too much money when I go to the fabric stores there.
I'll let you know how our day goes.

Next House Quilt Block

I stayed up later last night so that I could make another house block. I think the green is too bright but I love bright colors so it's a keeper. I'm too tired to make a block tonight and I'm cold and just want to go to bed and get warm under the electric blanket.

Answer to November 27th Post

Since no one has an answer I will tell you what the hats are from -------------Christmas Ornaments!!! Walk through the store sometime and think about what you can make from other things. I do that and come up with good and not so good items.
I found this recipe
http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/the-classic-christmas-cake,1293,RC.html
for a fruitcake (I love fruitcake) and thought I would share. Does anyone else like fruitcake? My mother made a fruit cake every year. Mmmm

This is the house that I was talking about that I made last night. I used Batik because I had the scrap lying there. In fact all of the pieces are scraps.

This is the URL to Attic24. I think that you will enjoy her Blog.

Two Things to Show You

This is another of my thrift store finds and I will post a photo of the bottom as we usually see that stamp "Made in Japan" or "Made in China" but this one is not like that. We have a larger Japanese and Chinese community here so I assume that someone purchased it there at a local shop and to me that makes it so much more special. Does anyone know how to read this? Don't you think that it's beautiful? A great $8.00 find.

I really like to read Attic24's Blog and she did these cool things with houses as they have lived in their house for one year. So Last night I was going through and old quilting magazine and saw a house that I wanted to make. I stayed up and made one square. I would not put the same fabric strip across the front but I love this block and I think that I may work on a quilt or wall hanging of these houses.

I hope that everyone is having a great day. It has been snowing here on and off all day but not sticking. It's getting colder and since we're not used to it being so cold it just goes to the bone! I hope to have a computer when I go home. I guess that it really got hit hard. If it can't be fixed then I will be shopping tonight!!

Sorry that I'm not good about posting photos. I don't know how to post photos throughout the post. I'll post the house in another post.

Have a glorious day!!
