Siggy Swap on Flicker

I'm hosting a signature block swap on Flicker.  Have you ever thought about participating?  I'm sure that someone is saying "What's a signature block swap" and the block below can be your guide.  In the white area you will write your name, city, state, country, and the year 2011.  You will make one block for each person that signs  up and go here and read the instructions in full and I hope they make sense than my rambling.
You do not have to use this specific block but can use your own pattern or idea as long as the block is
4.5 x 4.5 inches.  I hope you'll take the time to check it out and sign up.  There is a limit of 75 swappers.

The following blocks were made for me by 3x6 Bee swappers.  Aren't they BEAUTIFUL!!!  I was in two groups and there is a new swap starting in January and there is still time to sign up.  This is another Flicker group
I believe the last day to sign up should be posted in the rules and will be next week.  I have chosen the fabric colors of black, white and yellow.  I love this combination!!  You can change your colors each time you sign up but I want a nice big quilt so for a while I'll continue with these for now.
Go check out the site if for no other reason than to see all of the designs and color combinations.  They are worth the time and will give you sooo many ideas.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!  I hope to be back on before the New Year!!

Long Time Posting

I bet you thought I'd disappeared!!  We'll I had knee surgery and it ended up that I had three torn meniscus.  Can you believe it!  We suspected one but it didn't show on an MRI so that is not always the end answer.
While I was laid up I made an ABC quilt for a friend.  But I can't find a photo!  I'll have to figure this out as it was cute.
I've made another set of Bee blocks for the 3x6 Bee on Flicker.  I was in two groups this round.  These are the blocks for one group.

This is the block that I made in my colors.

This is a block that I made for the October Tag Square Group.
This is the angel block that I made and the block is Indiana Puzzle
This is my November block for Tag Square Group.  She wanted a rainbow and for some reason I found that difficult until I just started cutting pieces of fabric, sewing and trimming.  Now I like this block a lot.
I've also been working on doll quilts for my granddaughters.  Here's one I did last night.

I have a pink one to do today for the other granddaughter. Must do the colors they like. :)
I've also been teaching a quilt class for the Disappearing 9 Patch at Church.  I'm not a great quilter but I know how to do it and it's worked out wonderful.  I hate binding and you can always tell.  I need a class just on binding so that I could get more comfortable.

It's a sunny morning here in Indiana but right now it's only about 22 degrees.  Burrr!  I have some cleaning to do and more doll quilts to make.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Black, White and Yellow Quilt Blocks

These are all yellow, black and white but some look tan or orange from the photo.  They are beautiful!  I just completed a swap where the person making the block chooses what square they will use and the person receiving the blocks chooses up to 3 colors.  The group is starting a new swap and there is probably time to join at http://www.flickr.com/groups/6x3bee/
This is a 9 patch that I made just playing around with fabric and of course the same colors

I made this block today as I'm also in a swap and the block must be squares.  I think this round is filled but you can check it out at

Both of these are for anyone not just USA.  That is fun as the fabrics are all great and the selection would be so hard to duplicate.
When I get enough of these squares then I will have one beautiful quilt.
Would anyone be interested in a signature block swap?  There will be one coming up soon I hope at
The more the merrier and this should be great!
Hope everyone is having a great week-end!  It's cooled down here and feels great but we need RAIN!!

Check this out!!! Tag Square Bee

Bellsbellsjo is having a new swap for quilt blocks and if you would like to join then go to
http://www.flickr.com/groups/tagsquarebee/

About Tag Square Bee

We are a group of thirteen quilters from all over the world, making each other blocks from our own stash. All the blocks will be based around squares and square designs. Members get to choose the colour scheme they want for their quilt.
The above is copied and pasted from the group.

This is a Flicker Group and I'm also in the 3x6 and waiting to get into the Siggy Block.  I have some beautiful blocks from one of my last swaps and the maker picks the block pattern but uses colors that you request.  The photo below is some old blocks but they are square.  If you like square patterns then you will love this group!!

Blogs I Like

I found this blog when I was over at Lucy's http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/  I've been a fan of Lucy for a long time and now I'm a fan of the two Janes.
http://teawagontales.blogspot.com/2010/08/meet-family.html

I also keep track of the Hen over at http://henhousehomemade.blogspot.com/

Had to have one photo!
Another UK blog that I like is Jo at http://www.bellsjo.blogspot.com/
She does some marvelous quilt blocks and now she would like to start up a quilting bee.  Go over and take a look at her thoughts.  I know I'm in!

I still am hoping this coming year or the next to go over to the UK for a few weeks.  I think I will try a house swap as that would be the way to feel like you're part of the community.  Anyone ever tried this?

There are a lot of blogs that I like but these came to mind this morning!

Decoupaged Coffee Table

A few months ago I bought this coffee table and it's a big table (31"x31") and I would love to have it in my living room but it overwhelms the room.  I knew that I wanted to paint it and I was going to paint it white but then I decided on a different color.  I warn you that there are several photos.
Scratches on the table.
Top of table but I used a constructors primer for all the stains.
After priming the top I started to paint the table black.  See the grass?  This is what happens when there is no rain!  If you're having rain, could you send some our way?  We could use some 70's with no humidity!!
  • This is the table painted black and getting ready to be decoupaged.
  • I cut the papers and started working on what I'm going to do.  I used chalk and divided the table so that I could start in the middle.
  • I started this last night before I went to bed.  I got this much completed.
  • Here is the table all completed this morning.  I need to put some shellac on the top so that the top is waterproof.
  • The girl's and I went to a festival yesterday and they had their faces painted.
Have a great day!!!

Decoupaged Table

I found this pitiful thing at a garage sale and I think that I paid either two or three dollars.  It has sat in the garage for a month or two and I started to work on it last week.
I found this paper on clearance at JoAnn's and it was 80 pages for $7.97.  I love this paper and some of the sheets have writing and I always think that is so cool.  I didn't have a plan except for the middle and this is what I did.  I personally like it a lot.  I had thought that I would do some painting on the bottom but these colors just make the dark wood pop and it's a little beat up so it has the rustic look.  On the side braces there had been spindles but when I bought it there was only one so I removed it and then to cover the holes I put a piece of the paper and I think that turned out well.
A look at the top of the table.
I'm going to try to sell all of this decoupaged stuff and lots and lots more stuff at a garage sale and I always try to buy one big thing and I know what I want.  I want the AccuQuilt Go soooo bad!!  Does anyone have one and want to share their thoughts?  I want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly parts.
I think that one of the reasons that I'm getting so much done is that I signed up for the Friday Night Sew In and I got a lot done last night and now today.  Thanks Heidi and Bobbi for sponsoring this and I can't wait for the next one!!
One very good thing happened in southern Indiana this morning and we had some rain.  I had hoped it would rain all day but it hasn't but I don't have to water today!!  The grass even looks more green than brown.
Hope everyone is having a great day!!
One more question - Is anyone else addicted to decoupage?
