Bloomington Quilt Show 2013 #3

Well this is the last photos of the show that I'm going to put on.  Next month we'll be in Cincinnati for the International Quilt show and I hope to have more photos from there. I'm very excited about taking classes there for the first time.

I hope you enjoyed all the photos and sorry they were not that great.  Next time I'll take photos of some of the items I purchased and a great ironing tool.  This is bad but yesterday my friend and I went to Indianapolis to go to Crimson and Tate (modern quilt store) and then drove way way up to the north side to another quilt store.  I can't remember the name but I'll look at my receipt.  They had the most fabric that I had seen in a quilt shop.  Very helpful!!

Bloomington Quilt Show 2013 #2 Photos

I want to get as many photos as possible downloaded.  I'm going to try for one more post yet today.  The modern art quilts are my favorite but some of the traditional ones are amazing.  I cannot imagine all of the work in those intricate blocks.  I like things are are fast and colorful!

It was beautiful here today and I would say in the low 60's.  There was a breeze but it didn't chill you.  I've been dog sitting this week-end and it's very tiring running back and forth between two houses.
I did take an opportunity to put a white sheet on the clothesline today and sprayed it with different colors of fabric paint.  I really like it and I'll have to take a photo.  I forgot to take my camera when it was on the line.  It's in my car and going to the quilt group tomorrow for show and tell.  I also dyed a white piece of fabric by boiling some avocado skins and then letting the fabric sit in the water for about 24 hours. Turns a very pretty pink.  Who would have thought?  It's my understanding that you can use all kinds of plants and that is going to be a project for this summer.  Stay tuned as I'll do photos!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Bloomington IN Quilt Show 2013

On our way to the quilt show is lots of woods and I took some photos out of the car window.  Hopefully this is our last snow for this winter.  Just a few more days until SPRING!!

I could only get a few photos on and these are just where we started.

The next quilt was at least a queen and all of these pieces were like an inch.  I can't imagine piecing all of those.

See how goofy the photos ended up being?  Lightning was not good and my camera is just not good at this type of photos but it gives you an idea.

Update on What's Been Going On

In August my friend and I went to a quilt retreat at Camp Lakeview and here she is working on one of her projects

Here she is with a block completed.  This quilt turned out amazing and the quilter did a wonderful job.

This was a quilt that another lady was working on

A cloud over the lake as the sun set at Camp Lakeview

This is in Adair Co KY and was an old Church at one time.  We went to KY for a family reunion this summer and I had cousins that lived by here so I wanted to see what it looked like now

Here is the sign for the above church

This is the creek across the road from the church and I remember many happy hours spent wading in this creek during the summer with my cousins.
This is me on the left, my brother from WI and my niece from NC (Her mother and our half sister had died earlier in the year)

The project that I'm working on that is on my design wall.  I'm determined to get some UFOs done this year.  I loved these blocks so much that I was scared to finish them!!

This is one of many trees by the church where I work and I'm looking forward to seeing them bloom soon and know that spring is here.
It's seems like it's been a long winter.

Today my friend in the photo's above and I are going to the Bloomington Indiana Quilt show.  I usually go on Saturday but I'm going in late to work so that we can go today.
I plan on taking photos!!

In April we are taking another friend and going to the International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati Ohio and will be there for three days and we are all taking classes this year.  Very exciting!!!

I'll be back soon!!  I miss blogging but for the longest time I couldn't get on here but now I know what I was doing wrong.
Have a great day or evening!!!!!!!!!!!

Cincinnati International Quilt Show

Look who I met!!  Pokey Bolton was the one person that I wanted to meet and I saw her and started yelling Pokey!!  She stopped and signed the book that I had of hers (I'll take a photo and show you) and I had a my picture taken with her.  She is sooo sweet and gracious!  She's just a tiny little thing and she is a beautiful person outside and inside from my few short minutes with her.
This was my first time to spend the night in Cincinnati and we had a hotel room across the street from the Duke Energy Convention Center downtown.  There are lots of shopping other than the quilt show and lots of places to eat.  You can also take a carriage ride which would have been fun but we were tired!!  These are some photos from our hotel room at the Hiatt and we were on the 24th floor so we could see a long way.  There are several other hotels right around there but this is the one that we were able to get into.

I'm going to post a few quilts but please remember that you should not take any of these photos and sell them.  Though let's face it - I'm not a good photographer.  If you want to look at them for your own personal use then I don't care.  I just want to be respectful of the artist that completed these.
The lightning was not good in the convention center but the show was fabulous!!  There were over 500 quilts and it really takes two days to see it all.  There were 300 plus vendors and there was no way that we could go down every aisle.
We met ladies from all over the states and Canada and I must say that quilters are the friendliest people I've ever met.  We so enjoyed talking to all the people and I even found a lady from Buffalo NY that has more Laurel Burch fabric than I do but she is smart and cuts into it.  We found out about crossing the border from Canada into the US and that we have a much better selection here.
This show is worth saving up for and going.  We will take some classes next year as we talked to people who were taking classes and how happy they were with the classes.  Now that we have the lay of the land we'll know more next time.
I'm sorry about the poor quality of these photos but with the lightning and then I always blame it on the camera but I think it's just me not taking my time. :)
I did take a lot of photos and I'll share more.  This is just random ones.  There are a lot of the quilts that you are not allowed to photo and I try to respect that.
For my giveaway - could Gill, Rie and baukje please e-mail me.
Have a GREAT day!!

Give Away Items

I have been trying to get on here since my last post and Blogger would not recognize me!!  I tried today and got right on.  Here are photos of the items that I'm giving away and I'm going to extend this for a couple of more weeks so that others have a chance now that you can see what is being given away.

First up is a 50's crocheted pot holder in orange and white.
 Three Fat Quarters
Two (I can't break these up) 50's crocheted pot holders
Last but not least is this yellow and white 50's crocheted pot holder

Read the post before this for more info but remember today is the 29th so I'll give it a couple of weeks yet.  Because these are smaller items I can also invite international folks to join in.

It's a beautiful sunny day in Indiana and I have to go to work soon.  I hope everyone is enjoying our spring/summer weather no matter where you are.

Giveaway

I'm having problems posting photos for my Giveaway but I promised I'd start today so I'll tell you what they are and post photos as soon as possible.

1.  Three FQ's
2.  Orange and white 50's crocheted pot holder
3. Yellow and white 50's crocheted pot holder
4.  Two rose square crocheted pot holders in light orange and cream these would be from the same time frame (these had to go together as they are
     like twins :)

There is a question I'd like to ask and if you answer that is fine and if you don't have an answer that's okay.

I have this urge in the spring to start working in my garden and planting things.  I always tell everyone that it must be the farmer in me as I'm in a tizzy to get to work.  Then I also like to walk around and see what is coming up and that gets me soooo excited.  So the question is - What gets you excited in the Spring?

One name in the hat for entering, one name in the hat for answering the Spring question, one if you blog about the giveaway, and two if you become a follower.  If you do all of these things (you have to post about them so I'll know) you will have 5 chances to win.  There also the fact that I'm feeling generous and may add more items when I get the camera to work!!

Let's have this go until April 1st!!

Sorry about the photo thing.
