August Retreat

No photos but just to let you know that I'll be at a quilt retreat for the next few days.  The retreat is for four days but I think I'll only stay three.  I like the day before I go back to work at home.  I hope to have several finished projects completed.  I think I'll be doing a lot of hand sewing on binding!!  My least favorite but it has to be done!!  I have the baby quilt back from the quilter and I have to finish that.  She did a wonderful job.

Savings for Week 6 and Two Cows

I have to have a couple of photos and they have nothing to do with money.  The first one is a block I played around with and the other one is a couple of cows from Kentucky!! 

I like cows ----- well I like animals!!!! 

Need to find some sheep or goats or pigs or even a kitty!!

 

Okay I added $20.00 Sunday and that brings my total savings for six weeks to $74.00!!!

I'm glad that I'm going heavy on this end now but if I had followed the plan I would have $21.00.

I'm still excited about this savings plan.  I can't wait to spend the money in a year! LOL

Friday Night Sew In August 2nd

I decided to make a mug rug and so I had some of the number fabric scraps sitting there so I used a solid red scrap and away I went.

I fused the binding as I was lazy but I did put a very thin batting in between

 

This shows that I took a  inch by the length that I needed and put wonder-under on the back side and then fused one side and then the other

I think it's very cute

This is the back - I was playing around one day and I had hand painted this so I think it works well as the backing

Not for sure what I was thinking here but I had a container of 2.5 in pieces so I put wonder under on the back but so far that's as far as I got.

I have one of these mats for glues - I love mine and I use it a lot.  You can wash and dry it if you get toom much glue on and it's great. 

Here is my last project that I need to put a border around.  A little Halloween wall hanging.  I'm trying to make up some things for my quilt group that will be easy and fun.  I like to see a finished product so that is what I've been doing.  I want to use some of these projects as Make n Take

Glad to be hooking back up to the Friday Nite Sew in as I do seem to be getting more done.

ABC Baby Quilt

I'm going to Wisconsin for the Quilt Expo as I've said before.  I wanted to make a quilt for my nephews new baby and decided to use some of my ABC squares.  I have several sets of these so I might as well use them.  I've only made one other quilt with some of them.

 

This is the rows that need to be sewed together.

I ended up being very neat on the backside (not normal for me) so I had to show that.  May never happen again so I'll have a record.

This is the top on my design wall.  Yes, I know it's messy! LOL 

I called the quilter and she will pick up the top tomorrow and have it ready for me so that I can get the binding on before I go.  I will quilt  a baby quilt but I want this to have lots of designs and pretty threads.

This is the backing!!  I also put this on the bottom row to finish the row out.  I have no idea where I bought this but I went into the hall closet where I keep my novelty fabrics (no room in the sewing room closet) and found this!  I think that this will be great as a growing quilt as right now it's 41x54.  I think it would go nicely on a toddler bed as well as a crib.  I also think that I may put a hanging sleeve in case they want to hang it up.

 

I'll be off to work soon.  It's the day I go in late and then stay until 7:00pm Church.
