Laurel Burch Fabric

I wanted to give you some bright eye candy today!! These are images on some fabric that I just purchased that Laurel Burch designed. Laurel died a few years ago and she was only in her early 60's I believe. She is my favorite as I love the colors, the wackiness and the whole design of her fabric. I collect it as I find it and our LQS had these and I snatched them up. I have others that I have purchased the last few years and will have to show you those one day. Are there other Laurel Burch people out there? Well I have other things to show you later. I have things I've made and some great thrift store finds. Maybe now I'll be on here more since I have more to show you. I like having photos as I enjoy those so much on others blogs. One blog that always has beautiful colors and interesting things to say is:

I think you will find that this is one of the hottest blogs around. Have a great Sunday!!!!

Tuesday's Doings

I'm off work until 5pm so I went back to bed and then when I got up I set the timer so that I could go thru the fridge and throw out all the of the expired jars and anything that I no longer wanted. I did it!! Now I'm having a break and then I'll go back and finish cleaning the kitchen.

I made a To Do List when I went to bed last night and if I get it done then I can go and get a pedicure. Sometimes I get distracted by the things that need to be accomplished. I walk by the fabric and the sewing machine and then I think that I will just do a little that turns into a lot.

This week-end I pieced a table runner and then I thought I should do place mats so I did those and I still had some blocks left so I did a small pillow for each chair. Teapots!! They are all sandwiched together and I think that I will quilt them on the machine. I need to stuff the pillows and they would be done. I want to get as far as I can so that I can take them to our quilting group on Monday for show and tell.

The sun is shining here and it's suppose to start warming up. But------I have to go finish the kitchen or no pedicure. Maybe I'll do a before and after shot of my beautiful (?) toes. I also want to go to the thrift shop. Maybe today I'll find a treasure that I DO NOT NEED but I want!!

Have A GREAT DAY!!!

New Bargains

Okay, I know it's been awhile but lately nothing has been happening to talk about. But I did go to my favorite thrift shop and I found this pillow. I love these colors. The one side feels like a straw that has been dyed and the back is fabric with a nice zipper so that you can take the pillow out. I don't think that I would wash this in the washer but hand wash it. This is the best part for me. I'm going to use this as my new passport holder when I go to Brazil. This has 3 zipper compartments with a long string handle so that I can wear it under my clothing. This still had the original tag on it!!!

This is the cutest bag in bright colors but it's made of umbrella fabric and there is a zipper in the bottom with an umbrella!! I can take this to work and if it rains I'll have my umbrella hand right in the bag but it doesn't take up any room!
I love my bargains you know!! LOL
I've been playing around with some yarn as I want to make a granny square afghan (they call these blanket in the UK) as I follow several UK blogs and these are beautiful!! These are not the 70's granny squares. I did make one in the 70's and wish I still had it.
I've also been sewing a table runner, then place mats and then pillows to match for the chairs. I've had a really good time doing that and I think that I may do more as they would be easy to store and you could change them out as you got tired of them. I'm making all of these reversible so that I can use them for two seasons. I have them sandwiched so I'll show you when I finish!!
Hope everyone is having a good week-end!!!!!!!!

This is what I've been thinking about - gardening. I can taste the fresh vegetables and feel the soil in my hands. I need to see spring so that all of these seeds become living things!!
I want to grumble about watering every day and see all the flowers blooming. It gives me joy just to watch them and to smell their fragrance.
This is one of the books that I'm reading from the library. I want to be ready!!
We have a large lot that we started last year and called it the Victory Garden. People can have a free plot and we get as many plants and seeds as we can and give them away. We did well last year but there were still a lot of weeds and the soil needed to be nourished. In the fall a man from the church brought 3 dump trucks of compost and now this spring we will need to rake and spread that. Good nourishment for the soil. We are also planning a party with a cookout and the works for May 2nd. We had a kick off party last year that went well and this year we want it to be even better. I'm getting excited!!!!!!!

I love to take photos of the sky and the first photo shows the neighbors roof tops with snow. Isn't the shy beautiful??

The trees look so cool against the blue and you can see the white of the clouds peaking through. It has been so cold here and with all of the ice it has not been safe to wander far. But today it will be in the high 50's and hopefully the ice and snow will melt.
I'm taking the girls to Chuck E Cheese this afternoon. We haven't been for awhile.
This morning I've been working on a rail fence and 9 patch block. Gotta do some sewing!!!
Have a Wonderful Day!!

It's Snowing!! I Spy

The first two photos are some small quilts that are I Spy that I will take to Brazil with me. I try to sew them so that some of the blocks are upside down and the child will have to turn the quilt. These are 4x4 blocks so this is small. I think that I will back them with fleece but I want one of the ladies to embroider "Jesus Loves You" on the back. She has a machine to do that. I have one but I don't know how to use it. Just give me a straight stitch!!

I've been busy today and I guess I haven't looked outside and look what has showed up - SNOW!! I like to take photos of foot prints in the snow. More photos below

This is looking south out the front door on the porch. The snow is still coming down. More below!! This is looking straight out the front door and the building on the left is the church that I work at. Long commute? I love being so close and I now have a guy that cuts my hair, a dentist, restaurants (Dairy Queen and McDonald's) within walking distance. I don't use a full tank of gas in my van. I'm 4 blocks from downtown, two blocks from the library and Irwin Gardens. I bought a bike and need new tires. It was a used mountain bike and was such a good deal.

I wish I could show you what I've been working on but I can't as I think I want to enter it in a monthly contest on Stashbuilders when it's done. Lots of hand sewing.
We're in a Sewing Bee this week-end on Stashbuilders and I'm the SB Mama. I get to draw names for prizes. These sewing bees always seem to help me get more completed.
Hope everyone is having a good day!!!

Plants

These are a couple of the plants I brought in this fall and they are in a south window and doing great. I have such a hard time letting all of my plants die back so I have them in front of this window and they wouldn't win a decorating prize but they make me happy. Speaking of happy - I do a swap every month on Stashbuilders for Happy Blocks and I made 20 today and have them ready to go out in the mail. I love happy blocks.! I've been doing some cleaning in my sewing area. You couldn't tell it but I can. It seems that the fabric reproduces and moves around when I'm not looking. Messy!! But then do I want to clean or do I want to create something. You all know the answer to that one!!!
I've still not felt up to par and I went back to the doc on Friday. They took about 8 vials of blood and will let me know what they found. Mono is a possibility because I'm so tired all of the time. Some nights when I'm home I've been going to bed at 6:00pm. Thursday I took the morning off and slept until 10 and would have slept longer except that phone kept ringing. But then no one would expect me to be in bed that late.
I hope that everyone is having a good year so far and it was snowing here. I like 70's weather. But we need to feel blessed that we are alive each day. I hope to have something interesting to talk about soon. Oh - I did stop at the thrift shop yesterday and bought one item. It's a good bargain so I will have to take a photo and post it soon.
Have a good week!!!!
