Disappearing 9 Patch

I keep seeing all of these Disappearing 9 Patch quilts and I love them.  I took yesterday and today off work and I found 26 9 patch blocks that I had won or made on one of the groups a few years ago.  I have to say that they were not really that pretty and some had very very thin fabric but I thought they would be perfect to make a throw for winter and get some practice.  Here they are cut up and some have been sewn.
The following shots are the top done and I haven't even pressed it yet.  So this is what you can do with some not so pretty 9 patch blocks and turn it into a BEAUTY!!!
I did not try to come up with any special design when putting them together.  This is going to be used to cover up with on the sofa this winter and I'm thinking of putting fleece on the back for extra warmth.
I would recommend that you try this and here is a link where I got my instructions.

Have a great day/evening and I hope to finish this over the week-end and I'll let you see.

Another Decoupage Table

Two Posts in One Day!!  I finished a table that I had started quite a while ago and I thought that I would share.  This is the original table that I purchased at a garage sale for $4.00.

This is the top of the table after I decoupaged it.
This is the legs that I painted with some craft paint so that I didn't have to cut a zillion pieces of paper.  I love it and my granddaughters' love it.

I'm joining the gang over at Funky Junk Interiors and do they have a lot of things this week.  Need ideas?  This is the place to go!!!

Decoupaging a Bookshelf

Been awhile as I had a virus (maybe Face book?) and I realized it after I had typed an entire post that would not go.
I'm giving this bookcase to a friend and I asked if she would like me to decoupage it and she picked out some paper that she liked.
I try to lay put my cut papers but to be honest the design always changes.  But it's nice to see how many papers you will need before you start as this gets messy.  I taped a piece of freezer paper to the top of my coffee table and used that to glue my papers.  I used ModPodge and I'm generous with the glue.  I put some on the bookcase and the back of the paper.  When I had the whole area done I went over it again with the glue.
This is the bookshelf finished and she only wanted the top done so I hope she likes it.  I also color washed the edges with a lime green.
This is part of how the top ended up.
Another view of the top
The top again!  I really like the top.  If I had time I would have made the inside different but when she gets her knick knacks in there it will be fine.  I'm doing these shelving units for my office area and I'm loving it.  Stay tuned for that.

Have a wonderful day/evening!!

Flowers From My Garden and Quilts From Australia

The first two photos are flowers in my garden.  They are so beautiful and both of these plants were planted in June.  Both have more blooms to be enjoyed by me and the neighbors.

I was able to talk to my friend Midge from Australia on Facebook this morning.  We must be going on 5 years that we've known each other.  We've swapped fabric and things but the postage is just too high anymore to do much.  The following are some quilts that she's recently made and I thought you'd enjoy the photos as much as I do and she gave me the okay to post them.
Isn't it wonderful that we can get on the computer and make friends all over the world?  I'll have to take some new photos of some of the fabric that she has sent me in the past.  I haven't cut it as I want to make a special quilt out of them.
Stay cool or warm depending on where you are and have a wonderful day/evening.

Very Kerry Berry Giveaway

Quilt Block Three

This is my latest Sho Fly Block and there are horsefly's in the middle which is what you find around lakes and ponds, then the blue for water and the two greens for the greenery that grows around the edge of water.  I like the block I just hope the person that it's going to will like it.

These are the three blocks I've made in the same pattern.  What a difference!!
This is Smokey and this is her chair.  I had not posted a photo of these guys for a long time.  Peanut Butter as you can see is half asleep as I woke him up.  I can really see him aging more than his sister.  They are 14 years old.
This is how you find them often and a lot of times Smokey has her leg draped over Peanut Butter.  They are very very good!!
Have a good day/evening!!

Quilt Blocks

I made this block this morning and as you can see it's the ShoFly Block.  I didn't know if I liked the colors but it's very pretty especially in person.  There is orange and what I'm calling two grays in the block.
This is the same block but it looks so different.  These are more my colors but again I like the one above.
See this block below?  It's the same one as above but I sewed the bottom row wrong.  I was so mad that I didn't even take it out for a week as I had already taken a row of stitches out and resewed!  I'm glad to have it finished!  But I like to sew the blocks the very best.  I think I might like to quilt if I had a machine that was up to it.  So I just keep making blocks, sewing them into tops and very few things get finished.  But it makes me happy and it's a stress reliever.  I didn't just say that!  This block was a stress er!  But it's done.
The sun is shining and another day of heat.  I'd love to see it in the 60's for a few days as there are lots of weeds that need to be pulled.  I guess that I'll make blocks until it's cooler.
Have a great day/evening!!
