Rearrange a Room in 10 Minutes/Garage Sale Finds

I was out visiting blogs today and I read about how Wendy Janelle takes 10 minutes and rearranges an area of different rooms.  I thought this was a wonderful idea as I sometimes set a timer to clean a room in a certain amount of time.  Ever done that?  I have a problem with being distracted.  I'll start in a room but something needs to go to another room and then I see something in that room that needs doing.  Sometimes I get back to the original room and sometimes I don't.  I like the idea of 10 minutes and I'm going to try it.

I did find a couple of garage sale items that I don't have to do anything to.  A filing box that will go under my desk with the files that I need often.  This is wood and the openings have leather wrapped around them.  Not bad for $2.00 and at the same sale I bought the next item.
I had a mirror over the sofa before but I love this painting. She had a price on it for $25.00 and the canvas is worth more than that but it was later in the afternoon and she had marked it down to 10 bucks.   It would not be for everyone but for me it's great.  You can't see in the photo but there is some little bits of red and the green looks so much more textured in person.  I also purchased a lot of items that need work and some I have started on.  Photos soon!!

In this photo you can see that I put a huge sheet that I bought at a garage sale a month ago on the sofa instead of the quilt.  I guess I'll need to redecorate around my new art work.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful July 4th. I've been busy doing exactly what I wanted to do. For me that is the best.

Interesting Shops That I'd Like To Visit

These are shops that are not in the US but are found in the UK.  I hope to go to the UK and spend 2-3 weeks next year if I find someone to trade homes with me.  I want to be able to feel like I live there during my stay.  These are some shops that I would like to go to even if I may not be able to spend a lot.  Eye candy here for sure.

For anyone that crochets or appreciate crochet - here is a photo for you.  A Smart car with crochet!  Now this is someone that takes crochet or maybe the car very seriously.

Doesn't this look beautiful?  This is a friends pool that I took the girls to yesterday.  They were in there over two hours and still did not want to leave!  I guess I don't blame them but I thought it was cool in there.  I guess I'm getting old. :(
I went tosome garage sales on the way to Kroger and I got some great deals.  Also my neighbor was having a garage sale and I purchased some items that I will redo and show you later.
I hope everyone is having a good week-end.  I'm enjoying my long week-end.

I Won!!

I posted in June that Being Tazim was having a 30 day giveaway and there's her button on the right side here.  I entered for some of the items that I would like or know someone who would like them.  Get this - I won a cat tile made by Kimbas Critters!  It's number 21 on the list and being the cat person that I am of course makes me sooo excited.  I love Kimbas Etsy shop and I think that you would also.  Check it out

Second post today!  Maybe I'll win something else!

Decorating a Pill Bottle

I saw a challenge on about.com to decorate a pill bottle. And it hit me what I needed to do and I had just thrown some empty ones away so I dug through the trash. The entire how to is very long but in anything decoupage there are several steps and then the drying. I'm very excited to have my idea posted so take a look at http://familycrafts.about.com/od/filmandpillbottlecrafts/ss/pill-bottle-necklace-craft.htm

Hope you like it and I have another one that I did for the other granddaughter that I will post about soon. Lots of fun!

Garage Sale Finds June 25th

Last Friday I had met with someone and then I took them to work.  Well it was lunch time and as usual I had not been to lunch but I saw a couple of garage sales and those are always better than lunch!  I about filled up my van at the sale this $3.00 item came from.  They were moved out of a house and they were selling the stuff that would not fit in their new place.  The stuff was dirty and at this time nothing is in my house but this piece after a good scrubbing.  I have a spot in the bathroom that this fits perfectly at this time and is giving me a lot of storage that I need.
This solid wood chair came from the same sale for $5.00!  The seat swivels and it had some scratches but I already have it primed.  Not sure what color it will end up but I'll share at that time.  Do you see the mulch in the background?  That was an expensive purchase and I will post about that project soon as I have part of it done and it is beautiful!!  Okay, back to garage sales
This picture is a print of part of the hospital but what I wanted is around it!  Two wood frames that need some TLC.  Watch for updates on these.  Each frame was $1.00 each and I would have thought that was a lot but they are older (not antique), solid and big.
I would not purchase one of these normally but I saw a craft on Reinvented last week and no I have two of these jars and I'm going to reinvent them!
These are the legs to the kitchen table that I purchased for $10.00.  There were no chairs but I didn't need chairs as I have the chairs I want to use in the garage.  These babies have had a little rough sanding and I hope to get this table completed this week-end.  It's a long week-end for me as I have Thursday and Friday plus the Monday holiday!  My house is clean so I can concentrate on all my projects.
All of these glass chess pieces were $1.00!  My granddaughters played with them this week-end but I have a whole new idea of what I'm going to do with these.

The next two photos are of vintage wrapping paper for 10 cents a package.  Only one package had part of a piece out.  I purchase wrapping paper all of the time to use as decoupage paper!!  There are two sheets in each of these so this is like a little gold mine.  They even have the cutest gift tags that I could use on a project.  The insert says these are Gordon GF Fraser Gift Wrap Sets and are imported from England.  The original price was 50 cents.  Guess I need to look Gordon up.
Just saw the clock and I need a shower and to get to work!!  Bye!!!!!
