Part one Jelly Roll

I started a post and had a bunch of photos loaded and it threw it out!!  So here I go again.  This is loaded with photos and info about 2 quilting books that I bought and some other stuff!!  :)  I can't seem to get more photos at the moment.  So I'll talk about these - which is my latest project.
MODA Botany Jellyroll!!  I wish the photos were better but it's raining and dreary today.  This is very yummy!!!
Here are bad photos around the roll

This photo turned out better

This is the book that I'm loving right now.  I don't usually buy books as I can get so many patterns and ideas off the Internet and the library has tons of books.  But I was in Jo Ann's I had a coupon and this book had to go home with me!!  A purchase that I highly recommend.
Jelly Roll Inspirations by Pam and Nicky Lintott.  This is a step-by-step guide and there are 12 Jelly Roll Quilts in the book.  This is a sequel to their book Jelly Roll Quilts and I went back a couple of weeks later and purchased that one.  There are 17 projects in the first book.  I don't usually do a book review but the photos of each quilt, the instructions, etc. are easy to follow and the quilt I worked on yesterday with the above Jelly Roll was quick.  Sometimes I'm all over the place but by going step by step with the book I stayed organized.

I'm going to have to do two posts as Blogger won't let me upload anymore photos.  I'll get on that right now.

January 2011 Update

This is what I'm wishing to see
But this is what I'm seeing!!

Peanut Butter doesn't mind the bad weather as he is warm in my bed!

The week between Christmas and New Year's I did some work on the inside of my cabinets.
This looks awful but it was just worn shelf paper.  I also rearranged my cabinets and does that feel
                GOOD!!

This is my new paper which is actually wallpaper that I purchased on clearance a few years ago.  It makes great shelf paper.
This is my block for the Tag Square Bee and she wanted all blue.

While I was off I went and purchased the cheapest flannel and used tacks to put it on a wall in the basement.  And then I had my own Design Wall!!  These are blocks from the 3x6 Bee on Flicker.  I love all of these blocks and this will soon become a quilt.  The blocks are 12.5 x 12.5 so this will be a good size since I plan on there being 6 rows across and 6 down.  We just started our new swap but there is one every quarter and you are welcome to sign up now for the next one.  http://www.flickr.com/groups/6x3bee/
There are so many talented people and there are some fantastic photos.  Take a look!!

Sign ups are still open until the 15th for the Siggy Swap on Flicker.  http://www.flickr.com/groups/1564600@N20/
Read the guidelines and see if this is something that you would like to join as we would love to have you.  Right now we have 25 people signed up so there is room for more!!
It has been snowing since 5am and is supposed to stop around 7pm.  Right now it's still coming down.  I stopped by the library on my way home from work and picked up some books and on quilt book to browse through.  The book is Dimensional Quilts by Phyllis Dobbs.  Here are a few photos from the book.  If I can remember I will let you know what I think when I go through it.

It's snowing harder again so I'm going to stick my head in this book.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to get back into blogging more.  Have a great day/evening!!

Siggy Swap on Flicker

I'm hosting a signature block swap on Flicker.  Have you ever thought about participating?  I'm sure that someone is saying "What's a signature block swap" and the block below can be your guide.  In the white area you will write your name, city, state, country, and the year 2011.  You will make one block for each person that signs  up and go here and read the instructions in full and I hope they make sense than my rambling.
You do not have to use this specific block but can use your own pattern or idea as long as the block is
4.5 x 4.5 inches.  I hope you'll take the time to check it out and sign up.  There is a limit of 75 swappers.

The following blocks were made for me by 3x6 Bee swappers.  Aren't they BEAUTIFUL!!!  I was in two groups and there is a new swap starting in January and there is still time to sign up.  This is another Flicker group
I believe the last day to sign up should be posted in the rules and will be next week.  I have chosen the fabric colors of black, white and yellow.  I love this combination!!  You can change your colors each time you sign up but I want a nice big quilt so for a while I'll continue with these for now.
Go check out the site if for no other reason than to see all of the designs and color combinations.  They are worth the time and will give you sooo many ideas.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!  I hope to be back on before the New Year!!

Long Time Posting

I bet you thought I'd disappeared!!  We'll I had knee surgery and it ended up that I had three torn meniscus.  Can you believe it!  We suspected one but it didn't show on an MRI so that is not always the end answer.
While I was laid up I made an ABC quilt for a friend.  But I can't find a photo!  I'll have to figure this out as it was cute.
I've made another set of Bee blocks for the 3x6 Bee on Flicker.  I was in two groups this round.  These are the blocks for one group.

This is the block that I made in my colors.

This is a block that I made for the October Tag Square Group.
This is the angel block that I made and the block is Indiana Puzzle
This is my November block for Tag Square Group.  She wanted a rainbow and for some reason I found that difficult until I just started cutting pieces of fabric, sewing and trimming.  Now I like this block a lot.
I've also been working on doll quilts for my granddaughters.  Here's one I did last night.

I have a pink one to do today for the other granddaughter. Must do the colors they like. :)
I've also been teaching a quilt class for the Disappearing 9 Patch at Church.  I'm not a great quilter but I know how to do it and it's worked out wonderful.  I hate binding and you can always tell.  I need a class just on binding so that I could get more comfortable.

It's a sunny morning here in Indiana but right now it's only about 22 degrees.  Burrr!  I have some cleaning to do and more doll quilts to make.  I hope you have a wonderful day.
